SIUE Web Radio is a student-run, student-produced radio station, located on the lower level of the Morris University Center (next to Cougar Lanes Bowling Alley). Our mission is to inform, entertain and teach, while offering an eclectic mix of music and talk programs created by SIUE students. With all the tools and equipment you see at an AM/FM Radio station, students receive hands-on learning with their own time slot of music and/or talk programming. SIUE Web Radio is operated by Southern Illinois University Edwardsville under the supervision of staff advisers and graduate assistants.
Pulling an all nighter? Web Radio's there...24/7 with non-stop music.
SIUE Web Radio signed on to the Internet airwaves in March of 2003. The project to give students an alternative for hands-on experience was spearheaded by Graduate student Lisa Herman. Once under the management of 88.7 WSIE, Web Radio now partners with SIUE's Mass Communications Department and The Alestle, SIUE's student-run newspaper. Over the past year, SIUE Web Radio has gained over 40 radio shows; a record number in SIUE Web Radio's 9-year history. The organization has picked up quite a bit of momentum in recent months, participating in several fundraisers, installing new studio equipment, implementing a new logo and marketing strategy, and establishing itself as a staple in the campus community.
SIUE Web Radio is always looking for new hosts/DJs! Just fill out a Volunteer Application (which can be found next to the studio and at the SIUE Web Radio GA's office in Dunham Hall room 0152), and place it in the green drop-off folder next to the studio!
